How to Take Care of Your Skin

Taking proper care of your skin and using the right products doesn’t have to be scary! First, do you know your skin type? Dry? Oily? Combination? Sensitive? Many factors can alter how our skin feels. This can include stress, hormonal changes, diet & seasonal conditions, medications, and sleep habits. What you need is balance.

Visibly no pores and fine lines equals dry skin. Dry, shiny and enlarged pores (kinda look like an orange peel) means oily parts of skin have one or more of the following: combo blotchy or itchy visible capillaries which equals sensitivity. Most people have one or more of these symptoms.

Here’s the Trick to Finding Balance

Never wash your face in the shower. Hot water is too harsh and oily skin loves that squeezy clean feel, however, it actually causes your body to make more oil by trying to replenish what you took away! Dry skin, will be even dryer, and sensitive skin will show more redness.

Cleanse your skin at night, gently at the sink with tepid water, and follow with a humectant moisturizer. Don’t over wash in the morning, just splash with water, and follow with SPF no matter what time of year it is. If you’re a morning workout person, then gently wash with a cleanser to remove sweat. And if you have gone to bed with make-up on then you need to use a cleanser! Going to bed with  your make-up on is a big no no! Daytime is meant to protect and nighttime is time to replenish.
